Deleting your account

If you no longer want to use Referr, you can delete your account. Here's what you need to know before proceeding.


Before You Delete

Things to Consider

This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Before deleting, make sure you've:

  • Withdrawn any remaining seller balance
  • Saved any data you need (export billing history)
  • Completed any pending transactions
  • Understood what will be deleted

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account:

Data What Happens
Profile information Permanently deleted
Lead requests Removed from platform
Lead submissions Removed from platform
Purchased leads No longer accessible
Messages Deleted
Billing history No longer accessible
Seller earnings FORFEITED if not withdrawn

What's NOT Deleted

Some data may be retained for legal/compliance reasons:

  • Transaction records (for tax/legal compliance)
  • Anonymized analytics data
  • Records required by law

This data is not linked to your identity after deletion.


Before You Delete: Checklist

For Sellers

  1. Withdraw your balance

    • Go to Settings → Billing
    • Request payout of all available funds
    • Wait for payout to complete
  2. Wait for pending payouts

    • Ensure all payouts have arrived
    • Check your bank account
  3. Note: Unclaimed balance is forfeited

    • Any remaining balance will be lost
    • Cannot be recovered after deletion

For Buyers

  1. Save purchased lead data

    • Export or copy lead information
    • Save billing receipts if needed
  2. Cancel any subscriptions

    • Premium listings (if applicable)
    • Any recurring features
  3. Check for pending purchases

    • Complete or cancel pending actions

For Everyone

  1. Export your data

    • Download billing history
    • Save any information you need
  2. Consider pausing instead

    • You can deactivate without deleting
    • Preserves option to return

How to Delete Your Account

Step 1: Go to Account Settings

  1. Click your profile icon
  2. Select Settings
  3. Click Account

Step 2: Find Delete Option

Scroll to the bottom to find:

  • "Delete Account" button
  • Or "Close Account" option
  • Usually in a danger zone area

Step 3: Confirm Your Decision

You'll be asked to:

  • Confirm you understand the consequences
  • Enter your password or verify identity
  • Optionally provide a reason for leaving

Step 4: Final Confirmation

  1. Review the warning message
  2. Click Delete Account or Confirm Deletion
  3. Account deletion begins

Step 5: Confirmation

  • You'll receive a confirmation email
  • You'll be logged out
  • Account is marked for deletion

The 30-day period allows for:

  • Processing any final transactions
  • Compliance requirements
  • Potential account recovery (if you change your mind quickly)

Can I Recover a Deleted Account?

Within 30 Days

Contact support immediately if you change your mind. We may be able to:

  • Cancel the deletion
  • Restore your account
  • Recover your data

No guarantees – depends on deletion progress.

After 30 Days

Once fully deleted:

  • Account cannot be recovered
  • Data is permanently gone
  • You'd need to create a new account

Alternatives to Deletion

Pause Your Activity

Instead of deleting:

  • Pause all lead requests
  • Stop submitting leads
  • Keep account for future use

Reduce Visibility

If privacy is the concern:

  • Turn off "Show in directory"
  • Turn off "Allow direct contact"
  • Minimal profile information

Take a Break

  • Log out and step away
  • Account remains available
  • Come back when ready

Re-joining After Deletion

If you delete and later want to return:

  1. You'll need to create a new account
  2. Start fresh (no history)
  3. Re-verify email
  4. Set up Stripe again (if selling)

Your old data will not be available.


Financial Considerations

Outstanding Balance (Sellers)

Critical: Any unwithdrawn earnings are forfeited.

Before deleting:

  1. Check your available balance
  2. Request full payout
  3. Wait for funds to arrive in bank
  4. Then delete

Pending Purchases (Buyers)

If you have pending Auto-Pay or budget:

  • Disable Auto-Pay first
  • Don't delete with pending charges

Refunds

After deletion:

  • Cannot request refunds
  • Cannot access records for disputes
  • Export what you need first

How long does deletion take?

Full deletion within 30 days. Immediate deactivation.

Can I use the same email for a new account?

Typically yes, after full deletion is complete.

What about connected Stripe account?

Your Stripe account is separate. Deletion of Referr doesn't affect Stripe. Manage Stripe separately at dashboard.stripe.com.

Will the person I bought a lead from know I deleted?

No. They'll just see the transaction in their history. Your identity will be anonymized.

What if I owe money?

Accounts with outstanding debts may have restrictions. Contact support first.
